Columbus food guide
Columbus has one of the most exciting Black-owned restaurant scenes in the Midwest — soul food rooted on the Near East Side, Caribbean and West African kitchens in Linden and the North Side, Southern brunch on Livingston, plant-based spots in Franklinton, and family BBQ pits scattered across the metro. Around The Way keeps the running list. Every restaurant below is independently Black-owned and operating in Central Ohio.

Open profileColumbus is home to dozens of independently owned Black restaurants spanning soul food, Southern comfort, Caribbean, West and East African, Cajun, vegan, brunch, and barbecue. Many of these kitchens started as pop-ups, food trucks, or ghost kitchens before opening brick-and-mortar locations in neighborhoods like King-Lincoln Bronzeville, Franklinton, Linden, Olde Towne East, and the Short North.
Around The Way is a Kin+ project. We verify each listing, photograph storefronts where we can, and prioritize businesses that hire locally and reinvest in Central Ohio. If a restaurant you love is missing, send it our way — we add new spots every week.
